How about everyone who visits RecWave (this wave) post a link to their websites along with some information on your host/server.
Not only are websites a good source of information and ideas, but also how the website is organized and formatted can be valuable for other departments to see as well.
I'll start.
http://www.painesville.com
Our site is hosted by GovOffice.com They provide several ready to use templates, and can customize them as needed (as they did a bit with us). So far, all have been well with them.
We update the site ourself using their easy to use program.

Rec Department Websites - RecDesk
Hi,
My company, RecDesk (http://recdesk.com), provides both a public facing website and back-end Program Mgt/Online Registration for our customers. Program and Facility updates are reflecte real-time on the public facing web site and departments can add/update content on the public site to meet their needs. Some examples are:

It is run by the town administrator. To post items, we have to send them to him. We can, however, update our calendar on our own.
hey guys
I just wanted to make sure all of you know about RecWave's group functionality for smaller offices that either have a small budget or no budget.
It takes about 2 minutes to create a Group on recwave.com right here: http://recwave.com/og
You can create a public group, a moderated group for your office / region / state, etc. As you can see it has been a fairly popular tool here at RecWave in the first month (many groups already formed) because of the following:
1. It's FREE! (like all of Recwave)
2. You can easily invite colleagues / friends by using the invite button in the group once you form it (just by pasting in e-mails)
3. You can easily upload a file (Group File) to share with the group to get feedback
4. You can easily create a Group Post that starts a discussion with your group
5. You can easily post an event (Group Event) to the group for others to see and / or notify that they are attending
6. All users that join the group are automatically notified over e-mail when someone posts something new to the group (file, event, discussion, etc)
If any of you are having trouble setting up a group or are curious about how it exactly works and how it could help your office / district / region / state be more efficient feel free to drop me an e-mail at Patrick@recwave.com and we can even set up a short call -- I'd be happy to take a few minutes to get you set up. There is really no need to use mail listservers / newsletters to communicate with colleagues anymore when we are providing a free online group where you can upload and share files, events and have discussions related to Rec & Parks. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Patrick
