Does anyone on RecWave use Jr. Camp Counselors/Counselor Assistants at their camp? If so could you please tell me what sort of duties they are responsible for, things they can and cannot do, etc.
Thanks.

Thanks.
We do not utilize Jr. Counselors at our program. We have found that often times, due to their age and inexperience, they can't separate themselves from the campers. It ends up being more work for the Senior Counselors.

We do use a few jr.
We do use a few jr. counselors but I require that I get to meet them first or have had some contact with them before camp so I know that they are mature enough to work there. Our jr. counselors are different though, they are ages 15 -17 because I work with people with DD and the state law prohibits anyone under the age of 18 working alone with them. I have jr. counselors helping out with the activities throughout the week. They basically assist the people running arts & crafts, sports & games, canoeing, horseback riding, etc. When they are not helping with those activities I have them assigned to a cabin to help the counselors with whatever they need. I also use them to interact and play with the campers. Hope this helps some.
