Boomer help . . .
That being said here's my need:

I need to gather a group of 50-65 year olds (BOOMERS!) to have a focus group on their wants/needs/desires for recreation programs/activities/classes ... problem: the word SENIOR . . . as I am the Senior Center Supervisor! So . . . has anyone done a focus group like this?
How have you gotten them to show up for the focus group? (I was thinking personal invites and not having at Senior Center but at another site)
What specific questions did you get them talking with? HELP!

Not sure if this is the right space for this comment . . . but I think Talkin bout my Generation is the ideal place to start!

BTW - I think we have a really strong program already with lots of boomers but . . . I was recently told by someone who I work with and is 55+ . . . "I would not go to the Senior Center!" eek!

Thanks -
Jody

Would like to know

Jody,

I have not ever held a focus group like this one before, but I am interested in what you finds that works for you because I am in charge of senior and adult activities for our Parks and Recreation Department. I agree with you that having it at another site would be good and to possibily offer a lunch or light refreshments and coffee.

Good luck,

Keep me in the loop

I too run the senior programs at a municipal recreation facillity.
Senior programs are limited to monthly luncheons, a few fitness classes, and a dying trip program. Our card clubs have dwindled (bridge and pinoccle). We are now working at rejuvenating the senior community and have found they don't like being "the senior community". I have recently been thinking of coming up with a new term, but nothing seems to stick.
Let me know how this works out for you.
