About RecWave and the Founders

About RecWave

The three primary goals of RecWave are the following:

  1. Help Recreation & Park professionals network and connect online on a national scale -- without any dues = 100% free
  2. Help make the daily tasks of the recreation professionals more efficient and enjoyable.
  3. Increase recognition of the groups and individuals that make our cities and towns beautiful, safe and fun.

Here at RecWave we are determined to give the recreation professional the same tools that most other industries already enjoy. It has been too long...and you have already paid too many dues. For decades recreation professionals have passed their knowledge and best-practices through face-to-face interactions, in memos, binders and conferences. Things are about to change. Recwave.com aims to bring the recreation profession into the 21st century with the latest social networking technology. Initially the founders at RecWave will be paying for the site hosting and site development out of our own pocket and once the community reaches enough scale we hope to earn sufficient advertising revenue for the community to sustain itself.

About the Founders

Born in Nevada, raised in California, Sean Lange comes from a family of Recreation professionals.  His wife, Julie Lange is a 20+ year veteran and his father, Richard Lange spent 35+ years working for the profession.  Sean has worked for 20+ years in the industry himself and has also had extensive experience building social communities online.  His goal is to change the way Recreation professionals interact through new powerful social networking technologies.  The platform RecWave is built on is called Drupal (drupal.org).  Drupal is a free open-source content management system and is perfect for creating interactive communities that improve efficiency and networking.   Sean has a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Community Service.  He has 2 daughters and lives in Livermore, CA.

Born in Boston, MA, Patrick Curtis comes from a family of entrepreneurs.  After working in finance for a few years after college he realized Wall Street was not his calling.  In fact, the experience of working consistent 90-hour weeks was so traumatizing he created an online community for finance professionals called WallStreetOasis.com to try and help other finance "cube monkeys" find their way.   With over 500,000 visitors and 11 million page-views in 2008, the "Oasis" away from Wall Street seemed to hit a chord.  Patrick met up with Sean when he was looking for dependable and talented web developer for WallStreetOasis.com. After a few months it was clear that this was a partnership that could deliver the same benefits to the Recreation community.

Sean's from the West Coast and Patrick's from the East Coast.  What is stopping you from connecting with recreation professionals thousands of miles away?
